Good afternoon, Everglades High Gator families. Welcome to the 20242025 school year. This is Principal Curran calling with an important message about the use of wireless devices at Broward County Public Schools. Beginning this school year, wireless communication devices must be powered off or in airplane mode during the entire school day, including passing periods and lunchtime. From bell to bell, cell phones, laptops, headphones, smartwatches, and all other wireless devices must be turned off unless directed by a school employee for instructional purposes. As part of its strategy to continue to improve student achievement, our A-rated district is requiring students to disconnect, to reconnect, and elevate learning in a distraction free environment. As students and families adjust to this standard, the first two weeks of school, August 12th through the 23rd, 2024, will serve as a grace period during which students can understand the new policy without disciplinary consequences. The wireless communication devices policy will be implemented and enforced beginning Monday, August 26th, 2024.
