I received a voicemail for open enrollment and website www.naturalgaschoice.com for Nipsco customers. I thought it was a scam so I called Nipsco. They said there are natural gas suppliers I can choose in their Choice Program but I would have to call them directly to confirm the offer. I called 260-475-8188. Kim picked up the phone. I asked her to tell me about the best plan she had for Nipsco customers. She suggested the guaranteed savings plan. For 2 years, the supplier will guarantee a lower rate than Nipsco's. She said there are other suppliers who offer a fixed rate that I could also sign up with but in her opinion, this was the best because they are the only one who guarantees a savings against Nipsco's rate. No other supplier would give that guarantee. I called a few other suppliers but like Kim said, no guarantee. I decided to give it a shot and signed up with the guaranteed savings plan. This is perfect for seniors or limited incomes. Kim was very nice and helpful.

I called back and spoke with Alex. He explained how the Choice Program works. I liked what I heard so I wanted to sign up. Alex was helping me thru the process but then noticed I had PPS Fixed pricing. He showed me I was paying $0.4850/therm for this. The rate for the guaranteed savings was much lower but I could not enroll in the plan until my PPS pricing expired. I called Nipsco and they said it would not expire until Jun and I had an early termination fee. I called Alex back. He suggested I just wait until it expires, then cancel it with no fee and then sign up for the guaranteed savings. So...I wait until June. Alex was very helpful and not pushy at all. I would recommend this to all my friends!

She asked for my name, address, email address, NIPSCO account and meter number. That was it. No payment info. No personal info. She told me what to expect and how the process worked. We finished with this computerized verification that asked questions to make sure I knew what I was doing. A week later, I received a welcome letter. Now its on my NIPSCO bill.
